“While U Wait” Prostate Service:

Exciting developments are taking place in IHS with regard to urology-related services in 2008.  Due to widespread demand we are proposing to perform rapid processing and reporting of prostate biopsies from symptomatic or well-man screening patients.  This will enable consultants to offer a “While U Wait” service, which will enable them to reassure or discuss further management of patients on the same day as their initial consultation and biopsy.

The response to IHSConnect, which enables consultant colleagues to access their results 24:7 via a secure link to the IHS website, was an overwhelming success.  Feedback from our referring clinicians has inspired us to find a new generation solution to suit growing demands for ease of access.  IHS therefore proposes to launch a service whereby consultants will be able to receive and download results via a mobile device such as Windows.
