York Bioanalytical Solutions

York Bioanalytical Solutions (YBS) and Capio Diagnostik Denmark combine to strengthen their position as market-leaders in bioanalytical support for drug development studies.

In order to develop its position as a leading CRO in Europe, Unilabs, the parent company of Capio Diagnostik, announced today that it has acquired York Bioanalytical Solutions (YBS), the premier independent UK bioanalytical laboratory for drug development support.
Based in York, UK, YBS was founded in 1999. As the leading UK supplier of bioanalytical services to the global pharmaceutical and biotech industry, YBS has undergone considerable, controlled expansion over recent years in both LC-MS/MS and immunoassay techniques. Becoming part of the Unilabs group alongside Capio Diagnostik will enable YBS to offer additional techniques in both small and large molecule bioanalysis, so that the combined company can provide a more extensive bioanalytical service to its customers.
Yvonne Lech, Managing Director of Capio Diagnostik Denmark stated: “With this acquisition, Unilabs has become a major force in bioanalytical contract research. YBS’ vast experience in bioanalytical method development, validation and conducting all types of sample analysis support will complement perfectly the services currently offered by Capio Diagnostik. Together with YBS, we will be able to offer customers complete support for bioanalytical studies, from sample collection and management through to cutting edge analysis and data management.
YBS was established with the aim of bringing a fresh approach to contract bioanalytical research, offering unsurpassed quality and delivery with scientific excellence. YBS personnel are selected on the basis of their professional attitude, experience and commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality and range of services YBS provide: scientific competence enables YBS to quickly develop robust assays that run consistently and efficiently. YBS’ management team continues under the new ownership and has acknowledged expertise in the interpretation and application of international regulatory guidelines. An independent QA group ensures that exacting standards are maintained.
Jeremy Cook, co-founder of YBS said: “Joining the Unilabs group has the exciting benefit of allowing us, for the first time, to provide services that will greatly improve the conduct of PK analysis as part of the clinical trials process. Through our sister company, Capio Diagnostik in Copenhagen, we are able to offer management of clinical trial samples specifically tailored to the requirements of bioanalysis, improving quality and saving time and expense for that portion of the drug development process”.
